Keep the tape measure firm and level, but not tight, you should be able to place one finger under the tape. If possible, ask someone to measure you.

Linen shirts.
Very nice, but I had to spend some time to cut off all the cotton ends hanging down. I have worn one of the shirts and loved it, but after having to wash it .... it took agers to iron it! I guess that's linen for you!
